We have given some brief introduction to led downlight in our previous articles actually, like what is led downlights, the main characteristics of led downlight, how to install led downlight and so on. Here we will continue to give you an introduction to tell you more about the downlight. Hope that our articles can help to solve your problems. Well, different from our previous articles, this article is written in accordance with the frequently asked questions that are commonly confronted with people.

Well, are you confused by how many led downlights should you buy? Actually, many people have this kind of confusion. Generally, this is in accordance with your personal preference. In my opinion, you are advised to fit more than is required and devide up onto different switches which can help to create different lighting effects. In order to calculate how many fittings wll be in a row and how many rows you will need, you should work out the position of other lights by spacing them at intervals of between 900mm and 1200mm. The led downlights are no more than 600mm into the room since there will be no shadows over the area you are working.

In order to fit your downlights, some tools may be required actually, like chalk line, tape measure, pencil, pad saw, hand drill, hole saw, screw drivers and so on. You can prepare these in your tool box in case there are some needs actually.

How to fit the downlights? First of all, you should decide where you wish to place your chosen downlights measuring out the ceiling and marking the central point of the light and drill a small pilot hole through the ceiling. Then what should you do is to check ceiling to ensure that there are no joists or wires or pipes in the way. You are advised to use old wire coat hanger bent at a 900 angle to the width of the downlight. Insert the wire through the hole until the 900 bend is through. Then what should you do is to twist the wire a full 3600 and hopefully it will not bump into any obstructions. Use a hole saw to the correct size of the downlight which can be purchased very cheaply. The downlight can be wired once the wiring has been pulled through the hole. Hold the two springs back against the sides of the downlight and push up into the hole to fit the downlight into the hole.

When it comes to the question of choosing 12v or 230v, you may learn the following information first since this is surely a problem which has been long standing debated. Generally, 12v is low voltage, and the 12v downlights are wired to a transformer. The transformer wastes approximately 10 percent power through stepping down the 12v. Frankly, the 12v bulbs are more energy-efficient than the 230v. Also, 12v bulbs use halogen gas which can provide much whiter and brighter light. And it is cheaper and much easier to be intalled. If you ask me for some advice, I will suggest the 12v actually.
